Student Body Diversity
Imperial Valley College regularly reports demographic information to the Integrated

Textbook Information
Students can find required textbooks and course materials through the Imperial Valley College Virtual Store. Students may search using their student ID or select their courses manually. Some courses may not require textbooks or other course materials.Textbook and course-material information is published when it becomes available based
on selections submitted by faculty. This information is updated regularly and is subject
to change before and during the semester.

Voter Registration Information
Students may register to vote online through the California Online Voter Registration website. Paper voter registration applications are also available from Admissions and Records in Building 10 and the Student Affairs Office in Building 1000.
The Student Affairs Office also coordinates voter registration events periodically throughout the year.

Refund Policies
Information about Imperial Valley College’s refund policies is available on the Student Fees, Refunds, and Payment Plan webpage.
Students who need to withdraw from one or more courses after the official withdrawal deadline because of extenuating circumstances must submit a Student Petition and supporting documentation to the Admissions and Records Office. Extenuating circumstances are verified situations beyond the student’s control, such as a serious accident, illness, or death of an immediate family member, in accordance with Title 5, Section 55024 of the California Code of Regulations.
The Director of Admissions and Records will review the documentation, consult with the appropriate faculty, and determine whether the withdrawal request may be approved. The student will be notified of the final decision and provided with information about the appeal process, when applicable.
If the petition is approved, the appropriate withdrawal (W) notation will be recorded for the affected course or courses and reflected on the student’s transcript. If final grades have already been submitted, the Director will initiate the appropriate grade-change process. Student petitions and supporting documentation will be retained as part of the student’s permanent record.

Copyright Infringement
Copyright infringement occurs when a person exercises one or more of the exclusive
rights granted to a copyright owner under Section 106 of the Copyright Act (Title
17 of the United States Code) without permission or other legal authority. These rights
include reproducing and distributing copyrighted works. In the context of file sharing,
downloading or uploading substantial portions of copyrighted material without authorization
may constitute copyright infringement.
Copyright infringement may result in civil and criminal penalties. In a civil action,
a person found liable may be required to pay the copyright owner’s actual damages
and profits or statutory damages ranging from $750 to $30,000 per infringed work.
If a court determines that the infringement was willful, statutory damages may be
increased to as much as $150,000 per infringed work. A court may also award costs
and reasonable attorneys’ fees. Additional information is available in Sections 504 and 505 of the Copyright Act.
Certain cases of willful copyright infringement may also result in criminal penalties,

In addition, Administrative Procedure 5500 describes the standards of honesty and integrity expected in the pursuit of students’ academic goals. Administrative Procedure 5520 addresses student discipline procedures related to academic dishonesty, including cheating, plagiarism, and violations of copyright laws.
Constitution Day Information
In accordance with federal requirements concerning educational programming for Constitution Day, observed annually on September 17, Imperial Valley College’s Student Affairs Office provides faculty, students, and staff with access to a variety of educational resources about the U.S. Constitution. These resources include educational materials, films, instructional toolkits, and complimentary pocket-sized copies of the U.S. Constitution.
Imperial Valley College may request immunization records when required. However, proof of vaccination is not routinely required for general college enrollment. Certain academic programs or clinical placements may have separate health and immunization requirements.
Overview of the Financial Aid Program
The Imperial Valley College Financial Aid Office administers a variety of federal and state financial aid programs. Imperial Valley
College does not participate in the Federal Direct Loan Program; however, students
may pursue alternative education loans through private lenders.

Need-Based and Non-Need-Based Federal and State Financial Aid
Imperial Valley College offers a variety of need-based and non-need-based federal
and state financial aid programs. Eligibility for these programs is determined using
the information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and any additional documentation required to complete the application and verification
processes.
Eligibility requirements vary by scholarship. Students may review available opportunities

National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)
The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) is the U.S. Department of Education’s
central database for federal student aid records. Information about federal student
loans and grants is reported to NSLDS and may be accessed by authorized entities,
including schools, loan services, lenders, and guaranty agencies.
Students and parent borrowers can access their federal student aid information by
logging in to their NSLDS Student Access. The account dashboard provides information about federal loans and grants, including
award and disbursement amounts, outstanding loan balances, loan statuses, and loan
services contact information.
Terms and Conditions of Direct Loan Deferments
If you have Federal Direct Student Loans from other institutions, you may be eligible to defer payment while enrolled at Imperial Valley College. For information on the various deferment options available to student and parent loan borrowers, please visit the Department of Education website at studentaid.gov and navigate to the "Manage Loans" section: Manage Loans.
Private Education Loan Disclosures
Imperial Valley College does not participate in the federal student loan programs. Private education loans may be available from various lenders; however, IVC does not maintain a preferred-lender list or recommend or promote any specific private education loan lender.
Before considering a private education loan, students are encouraged to apply for federal grants and other assistance available through the Title IV programs by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal and state financial aid programs may offer more favorable terms and conditions than private education loans. Students may also be eligible for federal student loans if they attend an institution that participates in those programs.
Students who obtain a private education loan are entitled to disclosures from the lender under the Truth in Lending Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1638(e). Review the required private education loan disclosures.
Some private education loan lenders require the college to certify the student’s enrollment, educational expenses, and financial aid information. IVC will not certify a private education loan until the student has submitted a FAFSA for the applicable award year and eligibility for federal and state grant aid has been determined and processed.
Private education loan applicants must complete a self-certification form provided by their lender. Upon request, the Financial Aid Office will provide the Private Education Loan Applicant Self-Certification Form and, to the extent available, the information needed to complete it, as required by Section 128(e)(3) of the Truth in Lending Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1638(e)(3).
Graduation, Transfer, and Retention Rates
Imperial Valley College regularly reports graduation, transfer, and retention data
to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). This information is

Navigator.

Graduation and Retention Rates for Student-Athletes
Institutions that offer athletically related student aid must provide graduation and retention rate information to prospective student-athletes and their parents, high school coaches, and guidance counselors when an offer of athletically related student aid is made.
Imperial Valley College does not award financial aid based on athletic ability. For information about graduation and retention rates or student-success programs available to student-athletes, please contact the Athletics Department.
Equity in Athletics Disclosure
In accordance with the federal Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA), information about participation rates, staffing, revenues, and expenses for men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic programs is available to students and the general public.

Campus Safety and Security
Imperial Valley College publishes its Annual Security Report, also known as the Clery Act Report, by October 1 each year. The report includes campus crime statistics and information about college safety policies and procedures. Students, faculty, and staff receive an annual email explaining how to access the report online. A paper copy is available upon request from the Campus Safety and Security Office.
IVC issues timely warnings when a Clery Act crime occurring within the college’s Clery geography is determined to represent a serious or continuing threat to the campus community. Notifications may be distributed through campus-wide email and notices posted at building entrances throughout the campus.
The Daily Crime Log is available for public review through the Campus Safety and Security Office.
An alleged victim of a crime of violence or a nonforcible sex offense may submit a
written request to the Student Affairs Office for the final results of any college
disciplinary proceeding conducted against the alleged perpetrator, regardless of the
outcome.
