Associated Students Government President Elaine Valdez reported an active month of student events, community outreach, and institutional milestones at Imperial Valley College in her presentation to the IVC Board of Trustees April 15.
The report highlighted events that included a St. Patrick’s Day event that saluted Transfer Success as well as a musical debut March 31.
On March 17, during a St. Patrick’s Day & Transfer Success celebration, the ASG distributed over 300 paletas to students wearing green.
Valdez noted that the event was also a platform to encourage students in their academic journeys, as they were invited to sign a poster dedicated to their future transfer schools.
Then on March 31, the ASG debuted its first “Music on the Lawn” celebration. Held in recognition of farm workers and in collaboration with the IVC Music Department, the concert featured soloists and ensembles that attracted more than 100 students and faculty members.
Beyond student life, President Valdez emphasized the college's physical and prestige-based expansion. On March 25, she spoke alongside college leadership for the State of the College and the combined official groundbreaking of the Public Safety Regional Training Center and new Maintenance & Operations Warehouse.
The ASG also hosted the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the IVC Preschool. Valdez reported that approximately 100 children participated, hunting for over 600 hidden eggs and taking photos with the Easter Bunny.
